Why did it work?

1. Timing matters

These are the most frequently used follow ups out there. As the matter of fact, a lot of salespeople send them while still on the call with their prospects. So open rate is not the problem, as long as you send it asap. The rest rests on your sales skills.

2. Custom tags

Next steps are a must-have and another assess everybody leverages. But Richard has this notion of repeating things like challenges, timelines and proposed solutions to speed the process. And it works rather nicely.
