Chris Ritson
I met a 23-year-old SDR this week
who made £62,490 in his first year.
No inbound.
Just outbound.
Here’s what he does differently:
He doesn’t start with a list.
He starts with signals.
→ Hiring
→ Pricing page visits
→ LinkedIn engagement
“Intent isn’t a list. It’s a moment.”
So he only reaches out when timing makes sense.
Before calling, he warms the account:
→ Email touch (via lemlist)
→ LinkedIn interaction
→ Relevant insight
He doesn’t pitch.
He shows up familiar.
Then he tests before he calls:
→ Which pain points get replies
→ Which personas engage
→ Which signals convert
So when he calls...
He already knows what works.
No script.
Just context:
→ “I saw you’re hiring SDRs...”
→ “Usually that means pipeline pressure…”
That’s the conversation.
Follow-ups?
Fully personalized.
Based on what was actually said.
That’s how he drives extremely high show rates.
And when pipeline slows down?
He doesn’t increase volume.
He finds better signals.
Because:
Relevance > Volume
Timing > Personalization
That’s how outbound turns into £62K in year one.
(not bad considering the average UK salary is £33k)
Most reps will keep blasting lists.
What about you?
