Check your DNS set up with lemlist

What is DNS?

DNS stands for Domain Name System. It’s like the internet’s phonebook, translating domain names (like yourwebsite.com) into IP addresses that computers use to communicate.

Having proper DNS settings ensures that your emails land in your recipients’ inboxes instead of spam folders. Configuring them correctly helps protect your domain’s reputation and lets you track opens and clicks effectively.

How to check your DNS settings

1
Log into your lemlist account.
2
Go to Reports on the left menu, then click Health and select DNS checks.
3
You’ll see a list of your connected email providers.
4
Click Refresh checks to see your DNS status.

lemlist will provide a report based on your DNS settings.

How to interpret DNS check results

All good: Your emails are protected from being marked as spam.

  • MX Exchanges: This checks if your email server is set up correctly for email routing.
  • SPF Record Syntax: Ensures that your SPF record is valid, preventing your emails from being flagged as spam.
  • DMARC Record: Verifies your DMARC record to prevent spoofing and protect your domain.
  • Custom Tracking Domain (CTD): Confirms that your tracking domain is properly set up for tracking email stats.
  • Email Test: Sends a test email to Google’s servers to check if your DNS passes their requirements.
  • Spamassassin Score: A score higher than 5 means your email might be flagged as spam.

Ensuring your DNS is well-configured will help your emails reach your recipients’ inboxes successfully.
