Control how imports and enrichment update existing data

You can now set a rule per source for what happens when incoming data targets a field that already has a value. Find this in Settings → Data management → Field updates. Each rule applies to your whole team.

Imports (People database, LinkedIn extension, CSV import, Signal agents) — choose one per source:

  • Fill empty fields only: existing values are never changed, only empty fields get filled

  • Overwrite: incoming data replaces existing values, blank cells are ignored

  • Overwrite also with empty value: a blank cell in a mapped column clears the field

Enrichment:

  • Email and Phone: create a new field next to the existing value, or write in the existing field

  • LinkedIn: fill empty fields only, or write in the existing field

  • Company enrichment and Verify email have fixed behaviour and no setting

Other changes:

  • Pushing a known contact to a campaign no longer rewrites the contact: the contact stays the source of truth

  • In CSV import, the mapping step now links to your team's Field updates rules, and the per-column "Don't overwrite" checkbox is gone

  • Every rule change is logged in Settings → Logs with who made it, when, and the previous value

Changing a rule does not affect existing records. CRM import behaviour is governed by the CRM field mapping instead, with a shortcut to those settings. Only team admins can see and edit this page. This is a beta feature enabled team by team; outside the beta, import and enrichment behaviour is unchanged.
