Find leads from LinkedIn without getting banned

LinkedIn is a great platform for networking and finding leads, but there’s always a risk of getting your account restricted if you don’t use it properly.

In this lesson, you’ll learn how to find leads on LinkedIn while keeping your account safe.

To find and import leads using LinkedIn in lemlist, you’ll need the lemlist Chrome extension.

Set up the lemlist Chrome extension

1
Install the extension from the Google Chrome Store.
2
Log into the LinkedIn and lemlist accounts you want to link.
3
Open LinkedIn, click on the lemlist Chrome extension, and go to Settings.
4
Enter your lemlist credentials to connect the extension.

Import any lead from profile

You can import any lead from your network or by searching for them:

Import filtered leads

1
Use LinkedIn’s filters to target specific leads.
2
Open the extension again to import the filtered leads into lemlist.

Import settings

When importing leads, you can control several settings:

1
Check for duplicates: Make sure leads aren’t already in two campaigns.
2
Enrichment: Choose how you want to enrich your leads’ data.
  • Lead variables: Edit the profile variables before importing.
3
Select campaign: Choose which campaign to import your leads into.
4
Start import: Click “Push to campaign” to begin the import.

When you find the lead you want to import, you will have control of the following import settings:

Understand LinkedIn’s policies

LinkedIn has strict policies, and violating them can lead to account restrictions.

Some key tips:

1
Connection requests: Don’t send too many requests too quickly.
2
Engagement: Focus on genuine interactions, not mass messaging.
3
Profile visibility: Keep your profile complete and professional to avoid being flagged.

The specific limits you should follow depend on:

1
Account type: Free, premium, and Sales Navigator accounts have different limits.
2
Activity level: If your activity is low for a long time, then sending many requests suddenly can raise flags.

Default lemlist safety limits

lemlist helps you stay within LinkedIn’s limits by setting up default limits for actions. You can adjust these as needed.

We recommend 100 actions per day, which include:

  • 1 visit = 1 action
  • 1 invite = 1 action
  • 1 message = 1 action

Default limits are:

  • Invites: 20
  • Messages: 30
  • Visits: 30

Optimize your LinkedIn profile

Your LinkedIn profile is your first impression, so make sure it’s well-optimized:

1
Profile picture: Use a clear, professional photo.
2
Headline: Create a headline that clearly explains what you do and who you help.
3
Summary: Write a detailed summary that highlights your skills and how you can add value to potential leads.

LinkedIn can be a powerful tool for lead generation if used wisely. By following LinkedIn’s rules, using the lemlist Chrome extension, and optimizing your profile, you can find leads and protect your account at the same time.
