Why did this outreach campaign work?

We love a good cold email teardown. In other words, analyzing why a specific cold email template worked and breaking it down to the smallest details so that both a beginner and an advanced player can extract value from it.

Without further ado, let's get rolling.

Be sharp when you know your audience

Ivan targeted a carefully picked list of marketing agencies. Meaning, he wanted to connect with agencies with whom he could make win-win partnerships and who could really benefit from his services.

He opened his first email with a subtle reference to their content. This friendly approach helps break the ice and it goes one step beyond from generic "I liked your article" comment. We wrote about the Tiramisu strategy for intro lines before, so feel free to check it out.  

Immediately after, Ivan keeps things sharp and sweet. By having this work done in the past, it gives you confidence to talk about it in this way. Plus, if you have a strong brand or powerful content around the internet to back you up, even better.

On top of that, when researching your audience, if you're discover they're looking into cold emailing or have reasons to believe it would be interesting to them, this also facilitates this kind of sharp emails.

Share meaningful results to build credibility

Cold email space, as many others, is super competitive and the stakes are high. Giving someone the "keys" to your email domain and reputation can backfire if they don't do a good job.

The best way to mitigate that risk is to showcase relevant and good results you've achieved in the past.

Ivan played this card in two interesting ways. In his first follow-up, a Loom video was placed that gave an exclusive insight into his work. Plus, he also added a few of the clients' names. In the second follow-up, he added a screenshot of the results to outline the opportunity for agencies for the last time in this campaign.
