Migrating from Humanlinker to lemlist: What to Prepare and How to Proceed

Why teams outgrow Humanlinker (and when a migration makes sense)

Humanlinker is not designed as a full outreach automation platform. It works best as an add-on layer rather than a standalone sending tool, with no built-in warmup or deliverability control. That single limitation is usually what pushes teams to look elsewhere.

Humanlinker’s AI generates hyper-personalized icebreakers analyzing LinkedIn profiles, news, and company data, and the DISC personality profiling is genuinely useful for adapting tone. However, personality-based personalization operates at the individual level without company-level buying signals. Knowing a prospect’s DISC type does not tell you whether their company just raised funding or is evaluating competitors.

So you end up in a familiar trap: one tool for personalization, a second for sending sequences, a third for deliverability, and maybe a fourth for lead sourcing. The migration conversation usually starts when the cost of coordinating all those tools outweighs the cost of switching.

Here are the common triggers worth paying attention to:

  • Outreach lives outside Humanlinker: You’re copying generated messages into a separate sequencing tool, which fragments data and reporting.

  • Deliverability is unmanaged: Humanlinker has no native email warm-up, so you still need a separate tool for deliverability.

  • Lead sourcing requires another subscription: Humanlinker does not offer a separate email finder or verifier to find contact details outside the database or LinkedIn.

  • Multichannel means more tabs: Humanlinker only covers LinkedIn and email. lemlist runs email, LinkedIn, calls, WhatsApp, and SMS from a single workflow.

If two or more of those feel familiar, consolidating into one platform will likely save more time than it costs in migration effort.

A few things to notice. Humanlinker’s DISC analysis is a unique feature that lemlist does not replicate. lemlist takes a different approach to personalization: AI Agentic Enrichment agents pull context from LinkedIn profiles, company websites, CRM records, and even past sales call recordings (via Claap), then generate structured variables you can plug directly into sequence steps.

The biggest practical difference, though, is what happens after the message is written. In Humanlinker, you edit your AI-generated copy and then send the contact list and associated copywriting directly to your favorite sequencing tool. In lemlist, the personalization and execution live in the same platform. There’s no export step between writing and sending.

What to export from Humanlinker before you start

Build your export checklist first. Losing data during a migration is the most common mistake, and it’s the easiest one to prevent.

Contacts and enrichment data

Export your prospect lists from Humanlinker as CSV files. Include every enriched field: job titles, company info, DISC profiles (you can import these as custom variables in lemlist and reference them later), and any tags or segments you’ve applied. Open each exported CSV and check the row count before moving on.

Sequence templates and messaging

Copy every sequence, email template, and AI-generated icebreaker you want to reuse. Humanlinker’s AI generates icebreakers analyzing LinkedIn profiles, news, and company data, so your best-performing copy is tied to the platform. Screenshot or paste it into a shared doc. Flag which sequences had the highest reply rates so you rebuild those first.

CRM field mappings

Record how Humanlinker fields map to your CRM (HubSpot, Salesforce). Export or screenshot any engagement data (opens, replies, meeting-booked tags) that lives only in Humanlinker and won’t persist in your CRM after disconnection. If you’re manually exporting prospect data and engagement history doesn’t flow to your deal records, capture it now.

Suppression and unsubscribe lists

Export your full unsubscribe and do-not-contact lists. These go into lemlist before any campaign launches. Missing this step risks re-contacting opted-out prospects, which is both a compliance issue and a sender reputation risk.

Step-by-step migration plan

Each step here depends on the previous one, so the order matters. Most teams can complete a full switchover in a single week.

1. Audit your Humanlinker account and export everything

Run the export checklist above. Verify file integrity: open each CSV, confirm row counts, and check for truncated fields. Store everything in a shared folder your team can access.

2. Set up your lemlist workspace and connect your CRM

Create your lemlist account and connect HubSpot, Salesforce, or Pipedrive. You can sync contacts from your CRM (for example, HubSpot, Salesforce, or Pipedrive) directly (see how to create a lemlist campaign). Configure field mappings early so data flows correctly from day one.

💡 Tip: lemlist’s onboarding includes in-app chat support and step-by-step guidance inside the dashboard. You don’t need to figure out the setup alone.

3. Configure sending domains and start lemwarm

Purchase or connect your sending domains inside lemlist. DNS authentication is handled automatically. Turn on lemwarm immediately. It exchanges real emails with real inboxes at a controlled pace to build sender reputation, and it takes time to ramp up, so starting early is worth it.

4. Import leads and rebuild sequences

CSV import is how most teams add leads at scale. A properly formatted CSV with correct variable mapping ensures your personalization works (see lemlist’s guide on how to import leads from a CSV file). Upload your exported contacts, then assign each CSV column to the correct lemlist variable type. This is what makes lemlist recognize fields like {{email}} and {{linkedinUrl}} in your campaign steps, as explained in choosing the right CSV import type.

Rebuild your top-performing sequences first, and take the opportunity to add channels you didn’t have before (call steps, SMS, LinkedIn automation). You can use lemAgent, lemlist’s AI campaign builder, to generate full multichannel sequences from a description of your goal and ICP.

5. Run a parallel period for net-new prospects

Keep Humanlinker active for any prospects currently mid-sequence. Route all new prospects to lemlist only. This avoids duplicate outreach and gives you time to validate deliverability, CRM sync, and reporting in lemlist before committing fully.

6. Complete the cutover

Once in-progress sequences finish in Humanlinker, do a final data export to capture any late-arriving engagement data. Cancel your Humanlinker subscription only after confirming nothing is lost.

How to protect deliverability during the switch

Switching platforms is a known deliverability risk because you’re changing sending infrastructure. Even if your domain reputation is healthy, a new sending tool means inbox providers are watching more closely.

  • Warm up before you send: Start lemwarm at least one to two weeks before launching campaigns. lemlist’s Deliverability Hub includes inbox placement testing so you can see where emails land before any real sends go out.

  • Ramp volume gradually: Don’t jump to your previous daily volume on day one. Increase over several days.

  • Import suppression lists first: Bounced, unsubscribed, and invalid addresses go into lemlist before any outreach begins.

  • Keep domains separate: Use dedicated sending domains for outreach, not your primary company domain. lemlist lets you purchase and authenticate new sending domains directly inside the platform.

How to handle prospects stuck mid-sequence

This is the messiest part of any platform migration. The rule is simple: don’t move active prospects to lemlist mid-sequence.

Let them finish their current sequence in Humanlinker, or manually pause them and re-enroll in a fresh lemlist sequence after a cooling-off period (typically 14–21 days, depending on your sequence length). Lead import limits in lemlist vary depending on how you add leads. Knowing the right limit for CSV upload, API import, HubSpot, Pipedrive, Salesforce, or the Chrome extension helps you avoid errors (see import limits: how many leads you can add).

Use CRM tags or lifecycle stages to track which tool last touched each prospect. lemlist’s built-in deduplication catches duplicate email addresses on import, but CRM-level tracking gives you an extra layer of visibility.

Post-migration validation checklist

Before scaling outreach, run these checks:

  • Record counts: Compare imported leads in lemlist against your exported CSVs. Spot-check custom fields (job titles, company names, phone numbers) for formatting issues.

  • Personalization variables: Send test emails to internal addresses. Confirm that every variable (first name, company, custom icebreaker) populates correctly. Poor formatting means broken personalization, failed imports, and wasted time fixing errors lead-by-lead (see lemlist’s guide on how to import leads from a CSV file).

  • CRM sync: Trigger a test reply and confirm it logs in your CRM. Verify that lead statuses, tags, and activity records sync between lemlist and your CRM.

  • Deliverability baseline: Run an inbox placement test from Deliverability Hub. If placement dips below your pre-migration benchmark, pause campaigns and troubleshoot before scaling.

Frequently asked questions

lemlist does not use DISC profiling, but you can import DISC data as custom fields on your leads. If your CSV has multiple columns, make sure you assign the exact column you want lemlist to use (see choosing the right CSV import type). Your DISC notes would become custom variables available for personalization in any sequence step.

Keep Humanlinker running until every in-progress sequence completes and you’ve done a final data export. That typically takes two to four weeks, depending on your sequence lengths.

Humanlinker uses a credit-based pricing model. The Pro plan starts at €69/month per user and includes 200 AI credits per year. Each AI credit generates one full outbound sequence. lemlist uses seat-based pricing for core features, with pay-as-you-go credits only for enrichment (email and phone finding) and add-ons like WhatsApp and SMS.

Yes. You can upload a CSV file with lead data exported from a spreadsheet or other tool, or sync contacts from your CRM (for example, HubSpot, Salesforce, or Pipedrive), as described in how to create a lemlist campaign. Once connected, engagement activity and deal updates sync bi-directionally.

You can book a personalized demo where the team walks through setup, or use the in-app chat support for real-time help during each step.
